Reddit, without the Popular drift.
Your communities and searches stay. The bottomless Popular feed loses its shortcut.
The short answer
Reddit is at its best when you visit a specific community or search for an answer — and at its worst when Popular and home recommendations pull you sideways for an hour. Sociano opens Reddit in a controlled in-app view with rules that reduce those feed surfaces, while your subreddits, search, posting and comments stay available.
What changes — and what stays
Removed
- ✕The Popular and All rabbit holes
- ✕Endless recommendation units in the home feed
- ✕The sideways drift from one thread into twenty
- ✕Rage-bait from communities you never joined
Kept
- ✓The subreddits you deliberately visit
- ✓Search — often the best answers on the internet
- ✓Posting and commenting
- ✓Your account, profile and history
How it works
-
1
Download Sociano
Get Sociano on the App Store. It's free to download on iPhone, and setup takes about a minute.
-
2
Open Reddit inside Sociano
Sign in through Reddit's official login. Sociano's Reddit rules run during the session, reducing Popular and home-feed surfaces while your communities and search stay available.
-
3
Add native-app blocking (optional)
If muscle memory keeps opening the Reddit app directly, enable Sociano's native app blocking. It uses Apple's Screen Time framework, so the calm route becomes the default one.
Why Reddit is worth fixing, not quitting
Reddit threads are some of the most useful pages on the internet — real people comparing notes on the exact problem you have. But the app is built to convert “I need one answer” into an open-ended session on Popular.
Removing the feed surfaces keeps the deal you actually want from Reddit: you bring a question or a community, it gives you the thread — and nothing tugs at your sleeve on the way out.
Good to know
Honest status: Instagram and YouTube have the strongest support in Sociano today. Reddit is included and improving over time.
Sociano works through controlled web sessions and never modifies the Reddit app itself. Some native-only features can be limited — see the limitations page.
