LinkedIn without the feed.
Messages, job search, recruiter chats and your profile stay. The scroll of hot takes and humble-brags goes.
The short answer
LinkedIn has no option to switch its feed off — unfollowing people only makes room for suggested posts. Sociano takes the direct route: it opens LinkedIn in a controlled in-app view on your iPhone and removes the feed loop at the session level, while messaging, job search, people search and your profile keep working as normal. LinkedIn becomes what it claims to be — a professional tool, not a timeline.
The twenty-minute tax
Nobody opens LinkedIn to browse. You open it because a recruiter wrote, because an application needs finishing, because your title changed and the profile hasn’t. The errand takes ninety seconds. But the app doesn’t open on your errand — it opens on the feed, and the feed has been sharpened for years to hold professionals who arrived with something else in mind.
So the ninety seconds acquires a surcharge: an argument about return-to-office you have no stake in, a former colleague’s promotion that stings more than it should, a viral post about what a CEO learned from his toddler. Twenty minutes later you close the app slightly worse informed and slightly worse rested, and the recruiter still hasn’t been answered. Paid once, the tax is trivial. Paid five times a day across a working life, it’s a real cost — the same arithmetic that makes staying focused at work less about discipline and more about what loads first.
Removed and kept
Removed
- ✕The home feed and its ranked stream of takes
- ✕Suggested posts and engagement-bait units
- ✕Recommendation loops that chain one post to the next
- ✕The detour between opening the app and doing the task
Kept
- ✓Messaging, including recruiter conversations
- ✓Job search, listings and applications
- ✓Searching for people and companies
- ✓Viewing and editing your own profile, posting when you choose
How to set it up
-
1
Install Sociano
Sociano is available on the App Store with an annual subscription at $39.99/year in the U.S.; local App Store pricing varies. One app covers LinkedIn alongside Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook and Reddit.
-
2
Log in through LinkedIn’s own page
Inside Sociano you sign in on LinkedIn’s official website — your password goes to LinkedIn, never to us. The session then runs with LinkedIn’s rules applied: the feed loop is gone, while messages, jobs, search and your profile carry on untouched.

Make the calm route the default
If the native LinkedIn app keeps winning by reflex, Sociano’s optional blocking — built on Apple’s Screen Time framework — steers those taps to the controlled session instead. Nothing is modified on LinkedIn’s side.
Why removal beats rationing
The folk remedies for LinkedIn all have the same flaw. Unfollowing everyone is tedious and temporary — suggested content refills the emptiness within days. A Screen Time limit on LinkedIn blocks the recruiter’s message along with the feed, which is precisely backwards for anyone job hunting. Friction apps make you breathe before entering, then present the identical feed once you’re through.
One honest caveat belongs here. If what you actually want is zero LinkedIn — no messages, no jobs, nothing — then a hard blocker or simply deleting the app is the better instrument, and we say so plainly in Sociano vs. deleting social media. Sociano is for the more common case: the account has to stay open for professional reasons, and only the feed needs to go.
Removing the surface itself changes the shape of the visit. You arrive at your inbox or the jobs page, do the thing, and leave, because nothing on screen proposes an alternative. There’s no moment of resistance to win or lose. That principle — edit the environment rather than the person — runs through everything we build, and it’s laid out more fully in using social media intentionally. And if your problem is less LinkedIn and more every feed at once, removing the short-form feeds across platforms is the wider version of the same move.
Honest notes
Sociano runs LinkedIn as a controlled web session. That keeps everything App Store-safe and private — no ads, no data sale, no tracking of what you read or type — but a web view can lack the odd native-only nicety. The current list is kept honestly at /limitations.
Insights are built in if you want them: daily and 7-day usage per platform, plus optional daily limits. For most LinkedIn users the interesting discovery is how little time the useful parts actually need once the feed stops padding the bill. Anything else, the FAQ likely covers.
